Neutral Density Filters for HDSLR

The options we have.

Now I’m not going to get into why you should get an ND(Neutral Density) Filter or how they work. For that I’ll send you over to Nick Jones post over at ExposureHD “Your brain, frame rates and why you should have a variable ND filter“. It is a good read and clears up some shutter speed information.

What I am doing in this post is showing the options that I have gathered through my quest to find a ND Filter. I am all about finding the cost effective solution to my HDSLR needs and I figure if they are helping me out maybe they can be of use to other. So here are the three that I have found.

Lightcraft:

Ebay: $125.00
2 to 8 stops added density

Singh-Ray:

BH: $340.00
2 to 8 stops of added density

Genus:

BH: $134.95
2-8 stops of neutral density

I looked at 77mm filters because I could always attach a step ring from 58mm to 77mm for my smaller lenses. Now I have not made my purchase yet, being a student doesn’t give me a lot of extra spending cash, but this is definitely on my soon to get list so if you know of any other adjustable ND filter please let me know in the comments.
